What is the CSU General Education (CSU-GE) pattern?

Response from Catherine Machado:

The CSU-GE pattern is a way for students who transfer to the CSU to complete the CSU lower division GE requirements at Cuesta College prior to transfer. Completing the entire CSU-GE pattern is not a requirement for transfer. CSU GE Certification can be full or partial. See a counselor for more information.

There is an upper division CSU GE requirement of 9 credit hours, which must be completed after transfer at the CSU from which the bachelor's degree is granted. It is not possible to complete all of the GE needed to graduate from a CSU at the community college.

Response from Jay Jackson:

The CSU general education pattern is a pattern of general education courses which totals approximately 39 units. Copies of the CSU GE pattern are available in all of Cabrillo’s counseling areas; it is also printed in the schedule of classes. At the time of transfer, a student can request that Cabrillo certify the CSU GE pattern as complete. This CSU GE certification request is done via the Transcript Request Form available at Admissions & Records. If the CSU GE pattern is certified as complete (partial certification is possible), all campuses in the CSU system will accept it in place of their own campus-specific lower division general education pattern.

The CSU general education pattern is an ideal GE pattern to follow for students that know they want to transfer to a CSU campus.
