The number events you train for in one day is not as important as your weekly volume for each event. A general rule of thumb is that you should be training three times the length for each event in the race you are training for in any given week. Usually, this results in having to do “double” or “triple” workout days, getting two or three events in one day.
It is a good idea to get a feel for what it is like to move from one event to the next. Doing a swim/bike or bike/run workout in your training week is highly recommended, especially the bike/run workout. It is also a good idea for beginners to do a “dry run” at least once before the actual race by doing all three events in succession at the same distance as the race.
